Fashion Reimagined Premieres At The Tribeca Film Festival 2022

Fashion Reimagined celebrated its World Premiere at Tribeca Film Festival on Sunday, 12 June. It was incredible to bring together all the filmmakers in New York, and the premiere was surrounded with excitement for the first ever showing of the film to a live cinema audience.

Director Becky Hutner arrived on the green carpet with the film’s Producer, Lindsay Lowe and Director of Photography, Daniel Götz.

Thank you for showing me what I want to focus on for the rest of my life. I’m calling my daughter after this to see if she’ll join me!

Lucy Mukerjee, director of programming at Tribeca, gave an introduction to the film and director, remarking that Fashion Reimagined was essential to bringing the issue of fashion sustainability to light.

The lights went down and 200 people watched Fashion Reimagined! When the titles rolled, the auditorium filled with applause. After the screening, Karen Kemmerle moderated a Q&A with Becky. Kemmerle asked about Becky’s journey making the film and her early inspirations. The two also discussed what the future looks like for the fashion industry. Insightful questions and passionate statements rolled in from the audience, and we realised how grateful this audience was to have watched a film which will no doubt ignite the deeply urgent conversation around fashion and sustainability.

I hope that everyone who wears clothes watches this film!

Over the rest of the festival, Fashion Reimagined had two more screenings. We were honoured that Senator Mona Das, who helped develop the sustainable fashion legislation in New York, came to the second screening and was moved to tears!

Our next stop is Sheffield Doc Fest, where the film will have its UK premiere on Sunday, June 26, with additional screenings on Monday, June 27 and Tuesday, June 28.
